HBO releases first official teaser for 'Game of Thrones' season eight

A suitably ominous teaser has been released for the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones and hints at a showdown between fire and ice.

In June, CNN reported that HBO had ordered a pilot for a potential "Game of Thrones" spinoff.

There is nearly assuredly a bloody and epic final season coming in 2019 that will see many characters fall and the possible resolution of who deserves to sit on the Iron Throne.

In it, ice spreads over one half of a map of Westeros, while fire engulfs the rest.
