Speaking of Harper, the star outfielder has been quite the popular topic of discussion when the news came out that he turned down a $300 million offer from the Washington Nationals back in September.

Free agent Major League Baseball superstar Bryce Harper turned down an offer from his current team, the Washington Nationals, that would have made him one of the highest-paid players in U.S.

The biggest free agent deal in U.S. pro sports history by total value was the 10-year, US$275 million-dollar (RM1.142 billion) contract given to Alex Rodriguez by the New York Yankees in 2007.

The total worth of Harper's next contract will largely be determined by its length, but the six-time All-Star is expected to ink a deal worth at least $31 million per year, according to Spotrac.

However, his quick rejection of the deal doesn't exactly inspire hope he'll be returning to Washington.

"It's going to be a challenge to put the best product on the field, and that could include Harper and it could be doing things without Harper, " Rizzo said.

Tallahassee Police Department is still investigating whether there is a connection between the gunman and any of the victims. Nancy Van Vessem was chief medical director for Florida's Capital Health Plan. "Without being aware, she was a mentor".

Janes added, "Important on Harper: Both sides considered this a respectful offer".

That means Harper is likely looking to eclipse the record-setting $325 million contract that Giancarlo Stanton signed in 2014.

It's possible Harper will fall short of his expectations. Boras has already made clear that he'll be marketing Harper as a future Hall of Famer, given that the few players who've reached Harper's level of production prior to the age of 26 are virtually all enshrined in Cooperstown. It will cost them roughly $US13 million.

Whether the Nationals will be without Harper remains to be seen. It turns out that he rejected a contract offer from the team that very day.

In other words, we don't know much. But no position player has ever earned an average annual value of more than $US27.5 million (Alex Rodriguez and Yoenis Cespedes). The Nationals were willing to make a strong commitment.
