Cigar-shaped object could be alien spacecraft, Harvard researchers claim

A mysterious cigar-shaped object seen in our solar system previous year may have been alien spacecraft, sent to study the Land, he assumed the astronomers of Harvard University.

A new paper from the Harvard scientists Shmuel Bialy and Abraham Loeb suggests that quirks in Oumuamua's rotation and speed could be the result of solar-powered movement.

Oumuamua was first spotted in October 2017 by the Pan-STARRS 1 telescope operating in Hawaii. It's dark red, somewhere between 250m and one kilometre long, ten times longer than it is wide, and is spinning end-over-end through space at about 196,000 miles per hour.

"It is impossible to guess the objective behind Oumuamua without more data", Avi Loeb, chairman of Harvard's astronomy department and a co-author of the paper, told NBC News. Whether Oumuamua was something natural, an old piece of busted technological junk, or extraterrestrial visitors, we'll probably never know for sure.

Harvard scientists have raised the possibility that "Oumuamua", a mysterious cigar-shaped interstellar object, the first of its kind found in our solar system, could have come from an alien civilization. But its flattened, elongated shape and the way it accelerated on its way through the solar system set it apart from conventional asteroids and comets. They have highlighted that light-sails with similar dimensions have already been designed and built by our own civilisation. "Namely that it's a comet or asteroid from afar". "The lightsail technology might be abundantly used for transportation of cargos between planets or between stars".

The authors argue that if Oumuamua were just a random interstellar rock, we should have seen more objects like it. But Oumuamua didn't show typical signs of a comet, like a tail of dust and gas.

Trump calls Fox’s Hannity onstage at campaign rally
Fox has not addressed the question publicly. "But Sean Hannity can't help himself", said Camerota on "New Day" on Tuesday. Hannity hugged Trump and, after lobbing his crowd-pleasing insult at the media, recited economic statistics.

Mr Bailer-Jones led a group of scientists earlier this year who identified four dwarf stars as likely origin points for Oumuamua.

"Why send a spacecraft which is doing this?" said Coryn Bailer-Jones, an astronomer at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy, according to NBC News. The paper was also submitted to The Astrophysical Journal Letters.

"This is the only other explanation we could come up with", said Avi Loeb, chair of Harvard's department of astronomy. "In fact, they only mention the word 'alien" once, when they mention in passing that 'Oumuamua might have been targeted to intercept the solar system.

According to NASA, this interstellar object was a "metallic or rocky object" about 400 metres long and 40 metres wide.

Multiple telescopes focused on the object for three nights to determine what it was before it moved out of sight.
