Caitlyn Jenner’s Malibu home burns down in Woolsey Fire

Firefighters were scrambling Friday to slow the spread of two large wind-whipped wildfires in Ventura County that already had scorched thousands of acres, destroyed an unknown number of structures, and prompted widespread evacuations.

Highway 101 is now open in both directions in Ventura County, but is closed farther south in Los Angeles County due to the Woolsey Fire burning near the border between the two counties.

The National Weather Service issued red-flag warnings for fire dangers in many areas of the state, saying low humidity and strong winds were expected to continue through the evening.

Dubbed the "Hill Fire", the blaze quickly spread to cover between 8,000 and 10,000 acres on Thursday, according to Ventura County Fire Department officials.

The Camp Fire in Northern California exploded in size Thursday, burning about 20,000 acres and overtaking the town of Paradise, where around 30,000 people were forced to evacuate at the last minute.

No injuries have been reported in either fire.

At least 30 homes have been destroyed. Los Angeles is prone to natural disasters as earthquakes are expected in the region, but with the drought this year and mighty fires, it's becoming even more risky to live in the area.

The city of Malibu has reduced the scope a mandatory evacuation order for the beachside community as a wildfire approaches. Almost 2,300 firefighters are battling the flames, but as of Friday morning, it was still zero percent contained.

Schools and hospitals also evacuated.

It is claimed that her home, which is in the same area of the Woolsey fire, went up in flames on Friday.

Cal Fire's Bill Murphy says winds have calmed down in the valley but that there are "shifting, erratic winds" with speeds of up to 45mph (72 km/h) along ridge tops. At about 9 a.m. local time the Los Angeles County Fire Department PIO said it was "headed to the ocean".

"We were surrounded by fire, we were driving through fire on each side of the road", said police officer Mark Bass, who lives in Paradise and works in neighboring Chico. It's near Hill Canyon Road and Santa Rosa Road in the Santa Rosa Valley.
