A "Breaking Bad" movie is in the works and the show's creator, Vince Gilligan, is on board. Nobody's sure if it's a prequel, a continuation of Aaron Paul's narrative or something completely parallel and only tangentially related.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on the two-hour film will begin this month in New Mexico.

The Albuquerque Journal, which received early word, has heard the story will concern the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom, even if that could be a fake synopsis to distract attention. Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul producing alums Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein are linked to the project, as well.

Breaking Bad, the AMC drama that ended its hugely successful run in 2013, is now reportedly said to be getting a feature film. Vince Gilligan also serves as a co-creator and executive producer on that series. The New Mexico Film Office has confirmed that a project with that title is due to start shooting in mid-November. It's unclear if the movie would be another prequel - like AMC's Better Call Saul -or a follow-up of some sort.

Breaking Bad had five seasons to chronicle the slow, maddening descent from suburban banality into criminal underworld for Walter White, a chemistry teacher diagnosed with lung cancer. Partly thanks to the excellent Better Call Saul spin-off, but also partly to the vague ending that didn't quite offer a full-stop to Walter White's story, the brand endures.
