A "Breaking Bad" movie is in the works and the show's creator, Vince Gilligan, is on board. Nobody's sure if it's a prequel, a continuation of Aaron Paul's narrative or something completely parallel and only tangentially related.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on the two-hour film will begin this month in New Mexico.

The Albuquerque Journal, which received early word, has heard the story will concern the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom, even if that could be a fake synopsis to distract attention. Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul producing alums Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein are linked to the project, as well.

Vince Gilligan also serves as a co-creator and executive producer on that series. The New Mexico Film Office has confirmed that a project with that title is due to start shooting in mid-November. It's unclear if the movie would be another prequel - like AMC's Better Call Saul -or a follow-up of some sort.

Breaking Bad had five seasons to chronicle the slow, maddening descent from suburban banality into criminal underworld for Walter White, a chemistry teacher diagnosed with lung cancer. Partly thanks to the excellent Better Call Saul spin-off, but also partly to the vague ending that didn't quite offer a full-stop to Walter White's story, the brand endures.
