Mac Miller’s Cause of Death Announced

Miller, 26, whose real name was Malcolm McCormick, was found unresponsive in his Los Angeles home on September 7. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Mac Miller died from a mix of fentanyl and cocaine, according to a toxicology report from the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office.

Fentanyl, a powerful painkiller, has become infamous throughout the United States as an opioid crisis grips the nation. There was also an empty bottle of alcohol on the nightstand while a rolled up $20 bill with white powdery residue was found in Mac's right pocket.

The rapper with ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande. The assistant later told police that he had been "in good spirits lately and had many positive, ongoing projects", and that McCormick "struggles with sobriety and when he "slips" he consumes [substances] in excess".

The report described the substances found in Miller's apartment at the time of his death.

After Miller's death, Grande said she was sorry she couldn't save the "sweetest soul" who for so long was her "dearest friend".
