Leicester City helicopter crash

A helicopter has crashed into a parking lot near King Power Stadium in Leicester shortly following Leicester City's 1-1 draw against West Ham United.

The incident occurred in the club auto park with eye witnesses saying police cars, ambulances and security were frantically rushing around the stadium.

We are dealing with an incident in the vicinity of the King Power Stadium. There has been no comment from the emergency services or Leicester City Football Club.

Srivaddhanaprabha gets picked up by his helicopter on the pitch at the King Power after every Leicester home game.

Srivaddhanaprabha's helicopter reportedly left the ground as usual from the centre of the pitch at about 20:30 local time but it is thought it swiftly came down in the auto park. The Thai businessman oversaw Leicester's remarkable Premier League triumph in 2016.

BT Sport reported the helicopter crashed outside the King Power Stadium.

Eyewitness said that the helicopter took off as normal from the centre circle and was hovering over the south east corner of the ground before spluttering and spiralling to ground, near Filbert Way and bursting into flames.

It is unclear whether they any survivors but the witnesses on the scene report that a huge fireball erupted.

Witnesses told Sky Sports News the helicopter took off from the pitch but lost control within a few seconds and crashed into the club's staff vehicle park. It just cleared the stadium roof-line and landed in an industrial park next to the stadium.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene after Srivaddhanaprabha's chopper went down on a carpark outside the stadium.

"There were plumes of huge grey smoke pouring out of the wreckage outside the vehicle park, outside the stadium".

Leicester City footballers Jamie Vardy and Harry Maguire both tweeted praying hands emojis.
