The blow-up with NBC, at least publicly, revolves around Kelly's comments Tuesday about what is or isn't out of bounds for Halloween.

Today, multiple outlets reported that Megyn Kelly is officially out at NBC following the controversial remarks she made about blackface.

"These things tend to get blown out of proportion and typically have lees of an impact on advertisers than the media thinks", one media buyer says. On the episode, while speaking to an all-white panel, Megyn defended the concept of wearing blackface as a Halloween costume. All that for wondering whether it'd be offensive for a white adult who sincerely admired a black person to dress up as them, replete with skin-darkening, as a tribute for Halloween.

Netflix confirmed Wednesday that the cast-members and showrunners of House of Cards pulled out of a scheduled appearance due to her comments ahead of the show's Season 6 premiere. I believe that this is a time for more understanding, love, more sensitivity, and honor...

Kelly opened her Wednesday show by saying: "I want to begin with two words: I'm sorry". Kelly and NBC had been in talks about finding her a role at the network that was tied to bigger breaking-news stories and not to her morning program.

That apparently wasn't enough to stop the turmoil within the network sparked by her comments.

NBC's swift moves will likely mitigate any sort of meaningful advertiser backlash that has become commonplace in the news ecosystem. The previous version, a genial, low-key affair hosted by Al Roker, Dylan Dreyer and Sheinelle Jones, did not depend on the magnetism of a star performer. When NBC brought her over they paid her an enormously high salary, built her a $10m studio and let her bring all her own staff.

Producer Stu Burguiere noted that Kelly has been an outspoken critic of the way NBC handled several allegations of sexual harassment and assault over the past year. However, Kelly spokesman Davidson Goldin told CNN Business that NBC has not been in touch with Kelly or her representatives.

When it was on, Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly, was a disaster in the ratings department.

"There was a controversy on The Real Housewives of NY with Luann, and she dressed as Diana Ross, and she made her skin look darker than it really is and people said that that was racist", Kelly said.
