A PS4 Messaging Hack is Bricking Consoles

The offending messages apparently have the word "Juegas" and a odd symbol that can't be recognized by the PS4.

According to various reddit users, even deleting the message from the mobile app doesn't work. Others have reported similar problems after receiving a message with unrecognized characters. "Messages" via the Sony Entertainment Network website and clicking the edit button near Messages to change your default settings.

PlayStation 4 users are claiming that they are receiving messages that are preventing them from using their consoles.

The only way to combat the malicious message now is to either turn off messages entirely or only receive messages from people you know and trust. Where the PS Messages app/database rebuild option preserves all the data on your console's hard drive, a factory reset wipes everything.
