Turkey on Saturday "strongly" condemned Israel's "heinous attack" on peaceful Palestinian protestors in Gaza which killed seven people.

Israeli troops are searching for the assailant, who was seen making his way toward Huwara, a Palestinian village near Nablus, Haaretz reported.

The P.A. has demanded an accord between Hamas and Fatah prior to any ceasefire agreement, and said that it is the only Palestinian body that can engage in negotiations.

The prospects of peace in Gaza following the Qatar fuel deal were shattered on Friday when seven Palestinians were killed and dozens more injured in the Gaza Strip in clashes with Israel Defense Forces (IDF), according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

Since March, Hamas has orchestrated near-weekly protests along the security fence dividing Gaza and Israel, pressing for an end to a stifling Israel-Egyptian blockade imposed since the militant group wrested control of Gaza in 2007.

The Israeli soldiers stationed on the border fired tear gas and even opened live fire at the Palestinian protesters. It said that several Gazans later embarked on the border and approached an IDF sniper's post before being shot dead.

Tensions have been running high in the West Bank over the past week with two attacks against Israelis.

Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh pledged that the border violence would continue, saying, "Woe to you if you stop the march of return before the siege is lifted".
