Nearly immediately after US Senator Susan Collins of ME announced in a high-profile speech that she would join her Republican colleagues in voting to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to join the US Supreme Court, the conversation in her home state turned to whether the four-term senator could be vulnerable for reelection in two years and who could credibly challenge her.

Collins questioned Rice's connection to ME, saying Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union" that although Rice's family has a home in ME, "she doesn't live in the state of Maine".

President Barack Obama's national security adviser, Susan Rice, says she'll decide after next month's midterm elections whether to run for the Senate from ME in 2020. Well, to say that she thinks that Dr. Ford thinks that she was assaulted, what is that? "I'm not certain when".

Chellie Pingree, the state's lone Democratic member of Congress, said in a statement she is focused on reelection in a month but isn't closing the door on challenging a Collins a second time.

"My bottom line is I'm going to give it due consideration, after the midterms", she said.

How a Kavanaugh confirmation could impact you?
Some Republicans, and Kavanaugh himself, have called the allegations against him part of a smear campaign to keep him off the bench.

"I mean, that is so devastating, and I think he reacted with anger and anguish as a father of two young girls, a 10-year-old and a 13-year-old", the Maine Republican said. "There was no corroborating evidence he did so". "Collins VOTES NO on Kanvanaugh OR we fund her future opponent", which was started by the Maine People's Alliance, Mainers for Accountable Leadership and activist Ady Barkan.

Kavanaugh's confirmation was stalled by accusations of sexual misconduct when he was in high school and college, but Collins and others said they were won over by his forceful denials and a supplemental Federal Bureau of Investigation report they say produced no evidence corroborating the claims.

"Well, I put myself in his shoes". But she did not say Kavanaugh or Judge assaulted the girls in the bedroom, nor did she provide the names of corroborating witnesses.

"I thought that Susan was incredible yesterday. But, you know, we have to see". (She also voted for the Trump tax cuts.) Sen. She gave an impassioned, handsome speech yesterday. Susan Collins' comments on Christine Blasey Ford "insulting" to Ford and other victims of sexual assault.

Rice, who also served as the USA ambassador to the United Nations under Obama, said she appreciated the enthusiasm about her potential run, but said people who are angry about Kavanaugh should focus on the midterm elections.
