Over the last 24-36 house, there have been numerous times when it felt like a Jimmy Butler bomb was about to drop.

Meanwhile, there have been numerous reports that Thibodeau and his assistant, general manager Scott Layden, have been dragging their feet on trading Butler and ignoring an directive from owner Glen Taylor to get a trade done.

Per Wojnarowski, if the Heat ship All-Star guard Goran Dragic to the Timberwolves in a Butler deal, it could make Minnesota's Jeff Teague available for Phoenix in a multi-team trade. Then, a three-team trade seemed likely, which may still be the case.

With there being no shortage of suitors for Butler's services and the price the Wolves paid for Butler, there's little doubt that they'll be looking to recoup much of what they lost for just one season with him on the team.

Minnesota would surely receive a first-round pick, too, but it would be late in the round and not all that attractive.

Teams pursuing Butler remain skeptical of Thibodeau's desire to execute a trade, believing that he's making counterproposals that Thibodeau knows teams will never accept.

"One thing about everybody who's here, from the coaching staff, players, everybody's familiar with each other, we've been through a lot together, so we've just got to keep trying".
