Kavanaugh says the event "did not happen" and that the allegation is 'a smear, plain and simple'.

The latest claims of impropriety during Kavanaugh's youth came as he was already facing a dramatic hearing where his testimony was to be weighed against that of a university professor who has separately accused him of assault.

Her allegation against the conservative federal appeals court judge has endangered his confirmation by the Republican-led Senate to a lifetime job on the top US court.

"I am writing to request an immediate postponement of any further proceedings related to the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh", she said in a statement.

Joining the maelstrom, Michael Avenatti, the attorney representing porn actress Stormy Daniels in her legal fight with President Donald Trump, claimed to represent a woman with information about high school-era parties attended by Kavanaugh and urged the Senate to investigate.

The South Carolina Republican tells "Fox News Sunday" that "I hope she comes". "I remember a penis being in front of my face", she recalled. "She went into many details and at the end of our conversation I told her that I believed her and that it was important she tell me if, what she wished me to do with information, if in fact she chose another path".

Conway said, "I don't think one man's shoulders should bear decades of the #MeToo movement" that has toppled powerful men across industries over the past year. But withholding the allegations would prevent Kavanaugh from having to answer to significant allegations.

The Democratic senator who has known about the sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh since July said that she held off on making the allegations public because the accuser had asked her to keep them confidential.

The longest week: Carolinas worn out by Florence
Officials in North and SC warn that the flooding danger is far from over, with SC also ordering more evacuations as rivers rise. The National Hurricane Center said it was monitoring four areas in the Atlantic for signs of a new tropical weather threat.

Liverpool 3-2 Paris Saint-Germain
The trio have already notched up 11 goals between them this season despite only starting together twice in PSG's first five games. Having that desire is the big thing that Sturridge demonstrated, long before he scored the opening goal at Anfield on Tuesday.

Patriots WR Josh Gordon present at Wednesday's practice
Going back to when the Patriots had Randy Moss, Tom Brady was able to show what he can do with an elite wide receiver. If Gordon is active for 10 games, the Browns will receive a fifth-round pick, but if not it becomes a seventh-rounder.

David Popp, a spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, said he had not talked to McConnell Sunday night but he was also unaware of the second woman's allegations before they became public.

Sunday's call was bipartisan and lasted about an hour, said a person familiar with the conversation who wasn't authorized to speak publicly.

Deborah Ramirez, who was contacted by the New Yorker, was reluctant to share her story since she had been drinking heavily at the time of the alleged incident. "I look forward to testifying on Thursday about the truth, and defending my good name-and the reputation for character and integrity I have spent a lifetime building-against these last-minute allegations". This will occur as a continuation of the hearing to consider Justice Kavanaugh's nomination to serve as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the US.

Her decision followed days of negotiations and came after Mr Trump turned against her and said her accusation could not be true.

Brett Kavanaugh's supporters are getting desperate. The New Yorker reports it reached out to Ramirez after learning of the alleged incident, and that she responded after six days of inventorying her memories and speaking with her lawyer.

"We'll get nearly no Democrat" to vote for him, Trump told Geraldo Rivera on the premiere of his radio show, "Geraldo in Cleveland", on WTAM, reports The New York Times.

Ford, a psychology professor at Palo Alto University in California, has said Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her in 1982 when both were high school students in Maryland. "He should have been given the opportunity to say so directly to Senator Feinstein had he been made aware of serious allegations against him". All three told investigators that they had no recollection of the evening in question, the committee said.
