Maroon 5 to play Super Bowl halftime

Another source tells Us, "The offer has been extended and they've pretty much accepted", while ETOnline says the band is the "frontrunner" to perform. However, an National Football League representative or Maroon 5 representative has not yet been able to confirm that the group will be performing.

Levine has previously expressed interest in performing the halftime show, telling Howard Stern in 2015 that he and his bandmates "very actively want to play the Super Bowl".

Super Bowl LIII takes place February 3 and will air on CBS.

"It's a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show", the NFL's statement said. Mars has co-headlined the show twice in recent years, as has Beyoncé, while Justin Timberlake has appeared three times, most notoriously in 2004 when he had a literal hand in Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction".
