The National Hurricane Center predicts a hurricane watch will likely be issued by Tuesday morning for the "extremely unsafe major hurricane".

NOAA Hurricane Florence is forecast to hit the northeast coast later this week.

Mandatory evacuation orders also were issued for more than 300,000 people in North Carolina and Virginia.

United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday issued a series of storm warnings as Hurricane Florence advanced towards the east coast of the country. The rapidly growing hurricane-currently circling Bermuda-is expected to make contact with the East Coast early Thursday morning, predicted Wes Hohenstein, chief meteorologist at CBS 17.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper said his state is "in the bullseye" and urged people to "get ready now".

Meanwhile, Pentagon spokesman, Col. Robert Manning said, "Northern Command is spending an advanced team to the emergency operations center in Raleigh, North Carolina Monday to conduct an assessment and coordinate with federal and state partners".

Florence is forecast to make landfall in North Carolina late Thursday as a major hurricane and subject the region to high winds and heavy rain.

Florence, the most intense of the three has reached Category 4 status and will likely continue to strengthen as it moves over the warm waters heading for landfall on the East Coast later this week.

Hurricane Florence churned Tuesday toward the Eastern Seaboard as a storm of "staggering" size, forcing a million people to evacuate the coast.

The National Hurricane Center said Monday that Hurricane Florence is now a Category 4 storm and continuing to intensify.

N.H.C. said Isaac is a small hurricane.

The storm is moving west-northwest at 13 miles per hour (20 kph), the NHC said.

Isaac is a strong tropical storm with 60kt sustained winds, now about 675 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. "We just happen to be right in the middle".

Isaac is a Category 1 hurricane that's blowing winds between 74-95 miles per hour. Any Category 3, 4 or 5 hurricane is classified as a major hurricane.

"Red, no-swimming flags are flying, and everyone must stay out of the water", Dare County Emergency Management Director Drew Pearson said. The NHC expects Isaac to weaken as it approaches the Caribbean. Behind Isaac, Hurricane Helene is gaining strength, with wind speeds of over 105 miles per hour as of Monday afternoon. "Isaac is expected to be near hurricane strength when it moves through the central Lesser Antilles, with some weakening forecast afterward on Friday", the NHC said.
