Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez both scored twice as Barcelona moved top of La Liga after routing Huesca 8-2 at the Nou Camp.

However, three consecutive triumphs for bitter rivals Real Madrid has left Barcelona frustrated at being unable to compete with their peers from La Liga.

"We were asleep a little bit at the beginning [when Huesca scored], although that forced us to react". Messi leveled in the 16th, cannoning a shot in off the post.

Messi and Suarez completed their braces at either end of the half and Ousmane Dembele, Ivan Rakitic and Jordi Alba all joined in the fun as the hosts comprehensively maintained their flawless start to the campaign. Cucho Hernandez beat Marc-Andre ter Stegen in the third minute to take the initial lead.

Suarez then got involved for Barca, making the score 3-1 in the 39th minute.

Huesca drew closer just before the halftime whistle, with Alejandro Gallar Falguera scoring in the 42nd minute.

The home side nearly scored a fourth early in the second period when Messi broke the offside trap before striking towards goal, but the crossbar came to Huesca's rescue.
