Facebook rolls out Watch globally

Facebook said Wednesday it is rolling out globally its Watch video service.

Previously, only Facebook-selected publishers were given the nod to advertise within their videos, but now if content creators meet a specific set of metrics they too can pop ads in their videos.

Facebook has said it will spend $2 billion to bring new content on Watch, but it is drop in the ocean compared to Netflix's efforts.

A year ago, Facebook launched Watch for its U.S. users, but today, the social media giant announced that Watch is available globally, so everyone can discover new content and interact with each other. "We're expanding our Ad Breaks program so more partners can make money from their videos", she added.

Launched in the United States in 2017, the video service allows users to enjoy videos from different genres, including entertainment, sports and news in their personalised "Watch Feed" that carries a collection of recent videos from the pages they follow.

With this update, users will get more flexibility to manage their Facebook account by being able to choose the notifications that they wish to see like birthday notifications, friend requests, people you may know etc. and not be bothered by others.

The social network had launched the feature in 2017 in the USA to serve as a platform for television episodes. Obviously, the goal is to help you find new videos to watch, ranging from sports and news to entertainment, and your feed will be personalized to match your interests. Users will also have the option to customize their Watch section by following more Pages or removing Pages from their follow list within Watch.

Facebook says they're working on making new tpes of video content including new ways to experience videos putting you at the centre. Facebook is also offering new opportunities for creators and publishers from all over the world. And we'll make it easier to find live videos so you can discuss the big moments as they're happening.
