News coming out of England suggests that Premier League duo Manchester United and Chelsea could be involved in an exciting swap deal in the lead-up to deadline day.

"The other clubs that compete with us, they are really strong, or they already have fantastic teams and squads like Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City... or they are investing massively, like, for example, Liverpool, who are buying everything and everybody".

Mourinho still remains hopeful of strengthening his side in the transfer window before the August 9 deadline, with Brazil global midfielder Fred the club's top signing this summer.

Brazil worldwide Fred, young full-back Diogo Dalot and experienced goalkeeper Lee Grant have all been signed.

Prior to the game, Mourinho and Ed Woodward were urged to put their heads together and bring the good times back by the club's former chief executive Peter Kenyon.

Speaking to MUTV Mourinho said: "He wanted it".

Alexis Sanchez displayed moments of promise playing down the middle over pre-season but United were nonetheless limited going forward without the Belgian leading the attack. They could not have done better than what they did, fantastic experience for the boys.

Reports in Germany on Sunday said United have also expressed an interest in Bayern defender Jerome Boateng, who played against United yesterday.

The game was boring and United ended up losing to a single Javi Martinez goal, but Mourinho's positive take on fielding several younger members of his squad was a welcome change from some of his recent comments.
