Jennifer Lopez is the 2018 VMA Video Vanguard victor

Entertainer Jennifer Lopez will be presented with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards show in NY on August 20, the network announced Tuesday.

The 49-year-old singer and actress will receive the gong at a ceremony in NY on August 20. This marks the first time a Latin artist has been on the receiving end of this award that was first introduced in 1984.

The hitmaker released her debut album, On The 6, in 1999 and has gone on to sell over 80 million records worldwide. In 1991, the award was renamed after Michael Jackson, who received the honor in 1988.
