At San Diego Comic-Con 2018, BBC unveiled the first trailer for Doctor Who series 11, which is set to introduce Jodie Whittaker (Broadchurch) as the Thirteenth Doctor.

"New faces, new worlds, new times": The trailer starts with Jodie as the Doctor as she screams and clutches her chest, she says: 'All of this is new to me'.

Chibnall, a life-long fan of the program, added, "There will be little things [fans will] recognize, but what we want to see is where the show goes next".

The first female Doctor made her first appearance at Comic-Con. Whittaker is the first woman to play the role, which has been portrayed by 12 previous actors.
