Former Chelsea captain Terry pays tribute to sacked Conte

Conte has managed Chelsea for the last two seasons, winning a Premier League title and an FA Cup in his time there.

Conte, 38, joined Chelsea in August of 2016 after two years in charge of the Azzurri.

The cinema mogul disclosed that he had cut a deal with Manchester City for the midfielder over two weeks ago but Chelsea had offered a higher salary and the Italy worldwide preferred to move to London rather than Manchester.

Conte still has one more year running on his current contract and wants Chelsea to pay all of his £9m clause in full.

De Laurentiis believes a resolution is close, though, adding: "His case is at the finish line, it depends on him".

They reportedly include Brazil-born Italy worldwide midfielder Jorginho from Napoli, CSKA Moscow's Russian playmaker Aleksandr Golovin and Italian defender Daniele Rugani from Juventus, the side that edged Napoli in the Serie A title race.
