Celebrations will be tinged with sadness over the death of a former Thai navy diver who died on Friday while on a re-supply mission inside the cave.

The rescue process started at 10am local time on Sunday and involved 13 global divers and five Thai navy seals, who were referred to as "an all-star team" by NarongsakOsatanakorn, who is the Governor of Chiang Rai province and head of the joint command centre coordinating the rescue.

The group was led out in three batches by a team of 13 worldwide divers flanked by Thai Navy Seals, who greeted each successful rescue with a "Hooyah" on their Facebook page. More worrying, however, oxygen levels in the chamber where the boys sought refuge were falling. Now, two boys along with their football coach remain in the caves.

Officials said they were thankful to Musk for his help but said there was no chance of using the mini sub to rescue the remaining boys.
