So far, rescuers have pumped more than 32 million gallons of water out of the cave (about 40 percent of what's inside), The Guardian reported.

The Thai boys trapped inside a flooded cave for two weeks are not yet ready to attempt a risky dive to freedom, rescuers said Saturday, after the death of a military diver underscored the huge risks they face.

The conditions of the boys and their coach will affect how and when they are extracted, Osatanakorn noted, saying they may not all be taken out at the same time. They entered the cave during fine weather but became trapped when a sudden downpour flooded the narrow tunnels.

Croatia's national soccer team, which is competing in the ongoing World Cup, has offered its "support and love" to the young Thai soccer team trapped in a cave.

"We have to try to set the plan and find which plan is the best", said Chiang Rai Gov. Narongsak Osottanakorn, according to the Guardian.

It added: "Such situations are larger than sport, but their sport spirits will give them strength to face this challenge". 30 air tanks were pumped inside on Friday to ensure the boys had enough air.

These raise more fears about what could happen if the boys and coach attempt to escape the complex cave system. They are also trying to feed a fibre optic cable through to the group, to connect them to their families for the first time in almost two weeks.

The effort has also brought worldwide assistance including USA military personnel and the British cave-divers who first found the boys on Monday.

Authorities have wrestled with possible methods for delivering them safely.

The billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk tweeted on Friday that engineers from his firms - SpaceX and the Boring Company - were heading to Thailand to see if they could assist the rescue.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has invited the young football team that has been trapped in a cave in Thailand to the World Cup taking place in Russian Federation.

One reason the team can not yet be evacuated is that rescuers were also still searching for three more wetsuits with a thickness of five millimeters, the official, who has direct knowledge of the operation, told CNN.

He said their appearance at the final on 15 July would "undoubtedly be a wonderful moment of communion and celebration".

Officials said he was carrying out a mission to place oxygen tanks along the route between the command center and the area where the team is trapped.

This is the last time a former Thai Navy Seal was pictured before he died trying to get supplies to a dozen trapped boys and their coach.

'We originally thought the boys can stay safe inside the cave for quite some time but circumstances have changed. "We are calculating how much time we have if it rains, how many hours and days", he told reporters.

He did not elaborate.

The invitation comes as a former navy SEAL died today attempting to rescue the group and their football coach.

The volunteer rescuer died during an overnight mission in which he was placing oxygen canisters, SEAL commander Arpakorn Yookongkaew told a news conference Friday morning. That plan was dropped after rescuers realized the 12 boys, ages 11 to 16, and their 25-year-old coach are too weak and too inexperienced to attempt the harrowing journey out of the cave.
