White House national security adviser John Bolton says that he has discussed Russia's illegal annexation of Crimea with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier in the day if Trump raises the issue of Russia's alleged meddling in the U.S. election at talks in Helsinki, Putin will be ready to once again deny it.

Appearing on "Face the Nation" on Sunday, Bolton said he raised the issue of election meddling directly with Putin during a meeting on Wednesday and expressed USA concerns about "what they're doing in the 2018 election".

After tweeting last Thursday that "Russia continues to say they had nothing to do with Meddling in our Election!", Trump switched gears on Friday and said he would discuss the matter. And I think that in the president's mind this is very important because it gives him an opportunity to size up Vladimir Putin to see where there are areas where we might make progress together and where there are areas where we may not'. "That's not the position of the United States", he told CBS on July 1. "We'll be talking about world events", Mr Trump said yesterday.

Bolton dismissed a question about whether Trump has been more willing to criticize US allies than authoritarian leaders of rival nations, including Putin and North Korea's Kim Jong Un.

Also, asked if he would recognize Crimea, which rejoined Russia in the spring of 2014 after referendum, as Russia, Trump told reporters "we're going to have to see".

Trump will sit down with Putin in Helsinki on July 16, the first formal one-on-one meeting between the two leaders.

"I would urge President Trump work with Russian Federation in Syria", Graham said. Trump feuded with Group of Seven leaders during a summit in Canada last month over trade, abruptly dropping support for a routine joint statement. We'll be talking about world events.

The Obama administration, along with the European Union and individual allied countries, imposed sanctions on Russian Federation over Crimea, and even members of Trump's Cabinet have said they will not be lifted until the situation is resolved. "That's why the president is going to talk to him about it again".

The long-delayed summit comes at a time when Russia-U.S. relations have deteriorated to a record level due to multiple disputes including alleged Russian involvement in the 2016 U.S. presidential campaign and divergence in Syria and Ukraine.

"We'll see what Russian Federation does".
