Talking about the AirPods first, these wireless earphones will be able to feature noise-cancellation and water-resistance.

Unfortunately, the new and improved AirPods also mean that customers might have to pay more than the $159 price tag of the first-generation AirPods.

Elsewhere, Apple is said to be working on new over-ear headphones that'll compete with offerings from Sennheiser and Bose.

According to Bloomberg, "Apple designers eventually hope to remove most of the external ports and buttons on the iPhone, including the charger, according to people familiar with the company's work".

Finally, the report also suggests that we could see an updated HomePod as soon as early next year, with Apple potentially moving production away from Inventec. These will be put out under Apple, rather than Beats, branding.

Since none of these products have yet been announced, there's a chance they might not wind up being released in 2019, and could be pushed back further (or not released at all.) Still, from the sound of things, Apple has some pretty exciting new audiophile technology in the works. "During the development of the iPhone X, Apple weighed removing the wired charging system entirely".

New headphones and a HomePod, too? While those products include new models of the Apple TV and Apple Watch, and while Apple has not broken out specific sales figures for the AirPods and HomePod, the company appears eager to make a bigger impression on the audio world in the coming months. The report says Apple is looking to shift production orders from Inventec to Foxconn in order to raise yields. Specifics as far as the release schedule weren't offered in the report, but it's possible that Apple itself doesn't know exactly when the new products will be ready. An Inventec spokeswoman said the company "will try its best to secure new orders".
