England's Harry Kane scores their second goal in their World Cup opener with Tunisia at Volgograd Arena, Russia, on June 18, 2018.

Kane, 24, opened the scoring early on for The Three Lions, tapping home a loose ball inside the Tunisia box after goalkeeper Farouk Ben Mustapha had excellently saved John Stones' powerful header.

It was down to captain Kane to swing the game back in their favour with minutes to go, reacting fastest to Harry Maguire's flick-on to nod home the victor at the far post.

Despite this, I must say that the Tunisians were very impressive in their one-touch passing and were a delight to watch as they comfortably passed the ball around.

England created chances in abundance in the first half, scything their African counterparts open easily and pouring forward with energy and vigour. If they didn't think it's a penalty, we have to deal with that.

The Spurs striker admitted there had been some nerves present beforehand in the camp, but was full of praise for the team.

Kane refused to criticise any of his team-mates and explained that Volgograd was an exceptionally hard venue to play at, given the amount of insects interfering with the players' vision.

Kane has now scored in his last four England appearances and has 15 goals from 25 overall; only Gary Lineker has scored more in his first 25 matches for England (20).

Winning the first game of the group stage will put either team that much closer to advancing to the round of 16. Germany then dominated but when it broke through the Mexican defense, the shooting was poor.

But England did not have to wait long for the goal as Harry Kane netted in the 11th minute.

If England beat Panama and Belgium overcome Tunisia, Gareth Southgate's men will have booked their place in the last 16 with a group match to spare.

But England were otherwise let down by a lack of composure in front of goal on a hot night on the banks of the Volga river, with many players bothered by clouds of gnats. Going into the next game, Tunisia will definitely have to work on their left side of the defence.

However, even after winning the game, England will have to address a few issues if they are to advance deep into the tournament. We felt that Raheem Sterling and Dele Alli had caused huge problems for the opposition, but it was a good moment to put on a different threat.

"I guess as players there's nothing we can do about that".

Pure emotion from captain Kane as his brace gives England three valuable points.

The country breathed a collective sigh of relief when Kane fired home the injury-time victor having endured a frustrating 90 minutes.
