Oppo Find X the next to kill Apple’s notch

Oppo, as expected, on Tuesday unveiled its new flagship smartphone, the Find X, at an event in Paris.

Opening up the camera app will cause the phone's "Stealth 3D" camera tray to slide up, exposing a 25-megapixel front-facing camera and a dual 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel rear camera. Under the hood, you'll find flagship-level components for 2018, like a Snapdragon 845 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of onboard storage, and a large 3,730mAh fast-charging battery.

The Find X is available now in China, and Oppo says it's also coming to France, Italy, Spain, and Netherlands. Oppo has confirmed that it will eventually bring the Find X to markets across Europe and North America. The company will also be launching the flagship phone with a mobile carrier, giving the possibility that the OPPO Find X will be much cheaper to get in the USA market.

Oppo says the Find X facial recognition uses 3D structure light technology, which Apple used for the iPhone X's TrueDepth camera. The company is calling it 3D Omoji, and it lets you choose a amusing image or create a personal cartoon image to mimic your facial expression in real time.

Oppo Find X smartphone has a nice shiny metal back with curved edges and no camera sensors up front or at the back.

The Oppo Find X doesn't have a fingerprint scanner, so it relies on a 3D facial scanning feature for authentication.

It feels like smartphone innovation has taken a real step forward with the introduction of the Vivo Nex and Oppo Find X. Yeah, it sounds like marketing mumbo-jumbo, but just to put the things into perspective, this phone has an astonishing 93.8 percent screen-to-body ratio. The Chinese OEM has also launched a special Lamborgini edition of the phone, which will come at an expensive price tag of Euro 1699 (roughly Rs 1,33,880). There is no fingerprint sensor on the device. As per Oppo, the sliding mechanism was tested to 300,000 slides the average person unlocks their phone 100-150 times a day.

The phone will also have 512 MB of storage, a carbon-fiber texture underneath the glass on the back of the device, and will be engraved with the Lamborghini logo. The Lamborghini Edition with 50W (10V/5A) Super VOOC flash charge can be fully charged in just 35 minutes. It comes with VOOC fast charging.

In the software department, the Find X boots ColorOS 5.1 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. The device has two gradient color combinations - Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue. It also features flood illuminator, Infrared camera, proximity sensor, Dot projector, receiver and RGB camera are integrated into this unit, the company said. The power and volume keys both reside on the right of the Nex, with an additional key on the left which fires Vivo's own smart voice assistant.
