Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has predicted that Nigeria will progress into the round of 16 behind Argentina from Group D at this year's FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation.

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Brazil worldwide midfielder Fred, the Premier League club confirmed on Tuesday.

The Daily Express says that the teenager has completed his medical and agreed personal terms, and an official announcement will be made in the next 48 hours with United "ready to pay nearly £20m" for his services.

He will become the fourth Brazilian midfielder to play for Manchester United, following Kleberson, Anderson and Rodrigo Possebon.

"He is a wonderful player", Rivaldo, who was part of Brazil's World Cup winning team in 2002, told reporters. He has made 156 appearances over five seasons with Shakhtar, the Ukrainian Premier League champions, scoring 14 goals.

Jose Mourinho insisted in February that he had no intention of making any major signings at Manchester United this summer. Michael Carrick's retirement has only heightened the need for another commanding midfield presence.

Fred's performances for Internacional, who won back-to-back regional championships with him in the side, attracted the interest of Shakhtar Donetsk.

United fans are unlikely to get much of a glimpse of Fred at the World Cup in Russian Federation, though, as he is yet to start an global under current coach Tite.

The Red Devils announced the deal on Tuesday and are paying £52m to land the Brazilian, who will bolster Jose Mourinho's midfield options.
