Trump has repeatedly attacked the Mueller investigation that was meant to be an independent probe aimed at getting to the bottom of Russia's efforts to interfere in the 2016 election.

The special counsel's appointment has resulted in a flurry of activity over the past year, including 75 criminal charges, five guilty pleas and one person has already been sentenced to 30 days in prison for lying to investigators.

Giuliani said he doesn't expect Trump to fire Mueller or Attorney General Jeff Sessions, whom Trump attacked Wednesday over his decision to recuse himself from the investigation.

Giuliani, an attorney for President Donald Trump, spoke on Fox News' "Hannity" show, and said there are "guys with ethical issues" at Justice Department.

Rudy Giuliani, Trump's attorney, told Fox News Trump fired Comey because Comey wouldn't state "that he wasn't a target" of the Russian Federation probe.

The former New York City mayor also said the President is "adamant" about doing a sit-down interview with Mueller. Trump tweeted. "They journeyed down to Washington, D.C., with stars in their eyes and wanting to help our nation".

"'Unrecuse" doesn't say, "Bury the investigation.' It says on the face of it: Take responsibility for it and handle it correctly", Giuliani said Tuesday evening.

Two hours earlier, Trump suggested in a tweet that as a result of the Mueller investigation, many who hoped to work in government had to withdraw applications because their reputation was now "in tatters".

North Korea won't give up nukes, may open burger joint instead
That would have him arriving at John F Kennedy International Airport shortly after 2 pm Wednesday local time (6pm Thursday NZT). Trump had cancelled the summit in a letter to Kim on May 24, accusing Pyongyang of "tremendous anger and open hostility".

As for the possible Trump-Mueller showdown, Giuliani told The Washington Post.

There is no evidence to suggest that the source was inserted into the campaign, but he did seek out and meet with several Trump campaign advisers.

But in a Tuesday morning tweetstorm, the president effectively argued that the probe is already threatening to interfere in the vote - and questioned again why the team is not investigating "totally Crooked Hillary Clinton" and Democrats.

Trump repeatedly refers to Mueller's team as "13 angry Democrats".

"Who's going to give back the young and attractive lives (and others) that have been devastated and destroyed by the phony Russia Collusion Witch Hunt?"

Most polls predict a strong Democratic performance in the midterms in November, potentially producing a "blue wave" and handing control of the House and even the Senate back to the opposition party. Democrats in December held a 13 point advantage in the Real Clear Politics average of generic ballot polls. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, said Tuesday in a letter to Sen. A few days later, Trump told NBC's Lester Holt he was thinking of "this Russian Federation thing" when he fired Comey.

"There's no doubt he's complained about him", Giuliani, who is now serving as Trump's lawyer, told reporters on Wednesday.
