Production of the Ford F-Series Super Duty, a larger version of the F-150 pickup whose production at a plant in Louisville, Kentuckywas also impacted, is slated to restart on Monday as well, the company said Wednesday.

The company announced that F-150 production in Dearborn, Michigan, will restart on Friday, while production in Kansas City, Missouri, is expected to resume on Monday.

The teams removed 19 dies from Meridian's badly damaged facility, and in one case, moved an 87,000-pound die from Eaton Rapids, Michigan, to Nottingham, U.K., via an Antonov cargo plane.

Ford teams, together with suppliers including Walbridge and other contractors, worked almost around the clock to get America's best-selling vehicle franchise back on line as quickly as possible, according to a release.

Joe Hinrichs, Ford's vice president of global operations, said the company will have to get "creative" to produce more Super Duty trucks to make up for the lost two weeks, including offering overtime to workers once the supply issues are fully resolved and the factory is running at a full clip. The company was forced to suspend delivery of parts to several manufacturers, with Ford being one of the most affected as it impacted assembly of its cash-cow model, the F-150 pickup.

The pain has been felt most acutely at Ford, since F-Series generates most of the company's profit.

When the team removed the die from the Eaton Rapids factory, it was shipped to Rickenbacker International Airport in Columbus, Ohio. In between, the Ford team received a United Kingdom import license for the die - a mere two hours before the plane touched down. The massive die, used for stamping parts, made the trip from Eaton Rapids to Nottingham, England, in 30 hours, with necessary import documents secured two hours before the plane touched down. Ford backed its full-year earnings guidance of $1.45 to $1.70 per share.

Ford told the news agency at a United States press briefing it expected an adverse impact of 12 to 14 cents per share on Q2 earnings but affirmed its full-year guidance, saying it believed it could make up most of the lost production.
