Australia confirm India won't play Day-Night Test

Australian officials say the December 6-10 series-opener will be played in the traditional format after "we received advice from the Board of Control for Cricket in India that it is not prepared to participate in a proposed day-night test in Adelaide this summer".

In contrast, Australia have played four pink-ball Tests and won all of them, including the historic first game against New Zealand in Adelaide in 2015.

Cricket Australia has confirmed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have declined the offer to play a pink-ball test on India's tour of Australia starting on December 6 at the Adelaide Oval under floodlights.

On the other hand, Indian Cricket Team is in very good form and many fans and pundits believe that in the absence of Steve Smith and David Warner, they have a very good chance to register their first ever Test series win in Australia.

India and Bangladesh remain the only Test-playing nations not to have played a pink-ball Test.

"Under the circumstances, I regret to say the proposed day-night Test can not be played and all Tests will have to have the conventional structure".

The Board of Control for Cricket in India had made unofficial noises about the Indian think-tank's unwillingness to play a pink-ball Test Down Under but it wasn't until Tuesday that a line was drawn in the sand following an official release from CA.

However, a senior board official told DNA that Shastri's latest feedback is contrary to his earlier views some three-month back where he backed D/N Test claiming that it would get crowd back to Test matches.

India is world's top-ranked team.

He said, "We're hoping there will be some sort of regulation in there (the Test Championship) that will allow home teams to fixture at least one day-night Test match".
