And the effort got a nonpartisan push Monday from South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who responded to talk of his own potential Nobel by saying it should go to Trump instead.

Pompeo said that U.S. is not going to allow Kim Jong-un to continue to threaten America.

"There is no reason for us to possess nuclear weapons while suffering difficulties if mutual trust with the United States is built through frequent meetings from now on, and an end to the war and non-aggression are promised".

While the outcome of the Korean peace talks remains mired in decades of distrust, missed opportunities and suspicions involving all the great powers in the region and outside, there is new hope that started with a charm offensive from all sides at the Winter Olympics in February, and continues to surge with a meeting of the Koreas last week and Trump agreeing to a summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

During Monday's meeting, Moon called for a joint study with the North of economic projects that could be resumed without violating global sanctions imposed on North Korea for its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programmes.

North Korea's parliament on Monday adopted a decree to return to the same time zone as South Korea from May 5, the state news agency said.

North Korea has carried out multiple nuclear weapons tests over recent years.

The North in 2015 had set its clock 30 minutes behind South Korea and Japan, saying the measure was aimed at rooting out the legacy of Tokyo's 1910-45 colonial rule of the Korean Peninsula.

South Korea says it will remove propaganda-broadcasting loudspeakers from the border with North Korea. North Korea has also said nothing about any kind of possible timeline for denuclearization, or even explained what it thinks the term means.

Trump expressed optimism about a planned meeting with Kim, following conversations Saturday with Moon and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

Migrant advocate and attorney Nicole Ramos told the migrants and supporters it's unacceptable that USA officials refuse the group. He said the immigrants "may need to wait in Mexico as CBP officers work to process those already within our facilities".

Vikings Re-Sign Terence Newman
Picking up the option gives the Vikings a window of nearly two years to sign Waynes to an extension before he can hit free agency. Waynes had a takeaway in Minnesota's 2015 Wild-Card playoff game and has had crucial interceptions in wins over Green Bay at U.S.

Mr Kim told Mr Moon that he would soon invite experts and journalists from the United States and South Korea to "transparently open to the worldwide community" the dismantling of the facilities, the Blue House said.

The South Korean Government is trying to keep up the momentum in diplomatic efforts to resolve the North Korean nuclear question.

Asked about North Korea's insistence on a promise by the United States not to invade, Bolton noted that was an old demand that had been rolled out on other occasions.

Kim's comments about bringing Pyongyang-style cold noodles to the summit banquet clearly captivated many in the South, prompting some to add his face to the photo of a popular app for a food delivery service, holding a bowl of noodles under his arm. In the joint Moon-Kim statement, the leaders called for cooperation on road and rail projects -a hard task with the current restrictions in place.

Pompeo said that the United States also will have to match North Korea's actions, although he provided no details.

One ominous sign was a commentary from North Korean state-run media following Kim's summit with Moon that chided the US for brandishing the "rotten "sanctions" stick".

"I would never use the word honorable to describe Kim Jong Un", Lankford, of Oklahoma, said on CNN's "State of the Union".

"It is still unclear whether North Korea still believes that it can have its cake and eat it too", said Victor Cha, who until January had been in the running to become Trump's choice for ambassador to South Korea.

A senior U.S. official has said Singapore is being considered as a possible venue for the Trump-Kim summit.
