As Spider-Man is ready to battle Thanos in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, Sony Pictures is going ahead in full steam with its Spidey spin-off, Venom.

The new trailer for Venom finally unveiled the symbiote in all his frightful glory - but while Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock isn't part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he did borrow a little something from it.

Yes indeed, this new trailer shows Venom rather than just Eddie Brock, but not before giving us a little bit of backstory.

What's worth bearing in mind here is that it will have absolutely nothing to do with the MCU.

Venom is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics, commonly in association with Spider-Man.

Venom opens October 5. Will you be watching it? The story basically revolves around a reporter named Eddie Brock who gets infected with an alien symbiote that transforms him into the title character. But in today's preview, there's plenty of the symbiote to go around.

The situation is Drake wants to unite human and symbiote to bring in the next step of evolution.

I'll be honest, Venom doesn't look bad, but it does look...weird. The new clip features the first footage of Hardy in the iconic costume, as well as more hints as to what the movie will be about. "He's one of my favorite characters as well".

We'll have to wait and see. Unlike the mix of CG with a practical costume that was used on Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3, they will be using motion capture and CG to portray Venom in the film.

Do you think this movie will finally get Venom right?
