Missing California family's SUV found sinking into river

Valencia Calif.- A missing family mystery possible new clues in the case of a Valencia family of four that vanished while on a road trip.

Sandeep (42) his wife Soumya (38), son Siddhant (12) and daughter Saachi (9), who lived in the southern Californian city of Valencia, were reportedly travelling from Portland to San Jose, with a planned stop to see relatives in San Jose. Two days after Gujarat resident Thottapally Babu Subramaniam tweeted to Union External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, urging her to help locate his son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren, authorities in the U.S. are fearing the worst. It has now emerged that an SUV matching their vehicle was believed to be swept away by a flood-swollen river, according to a media report.

Farther south along the Mendocino County coast, authorities continue to look for members of a family missing since an SUV made a deadly and possibly intentional plunge off a towering ocean bluff along State Route 1 last month.

A flyer asking for help in the search was posted on a family member's Facebook page.

Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj tweeted that she has sought a report from the Consul General in San Francisco. Police have said it may be weeks before they can identify the body. Down, in 2005. The family have campaigned since then to find her body.

The Press Democrat reports that witnesses saw a Honda Pilot SUV pull into a turnout on Highway 101 before going over a riverbank and into the Eel River in Mendocino during a rainstorm on Friday.

The vehicle is the same kind that the Thottapilly family owned.

"Last known location is around Klamath - Redwood National Park Area" in Northern California near the OR border. "We are working on finding the vehicle but we are not able to locate it".

The family's vehicle was a maroon or burgundy 2016 Honda Pilot.

San Jose Police say the Thottapilly family is still missing.

A CHP spokesman was not available Wednesday morning, but Officer William Wunderlich told the Times that small plastic pieces believed to have come from the vehicle were found at the scene.
