How Patrick Reed Triumphed on Final Day of Augusta Masters

Professionals participating in the 2018 Masters split an $11 million purse, with victor Patrick Reed taking home a cool $1,980,000 after shooting a 15-under 273.

The loudest cheers were for everyone else, and Reed picked up on that right away. But at the same time, he's trying to go for the career grand slam.

Spieth, meanwhile, was putting pressure on his compatriot and threatening the course record into the bargain.

Reed never flinched through it all.

"I feel like I played the golf that I need to play in order to get to where I want to be, and that's to be the best golfer in the world", he said after moving up to No. 11 in the world rankings.

It was during his time at Augusta State that Reed met Justine Karain.

"Humility was not one of his strong suits early on".

Reed and McIlroy are forever linked to that singles match two years ago, which Reed won on the 18th hole. "He won't back down". And he was once caught on the course chastising himself for a bad hole and using an anti-LGBT slur, saying: "Nice f--ing three-putt, you f--ing f--". It still wasn't enough. Fowler also shot 65 to move into third place, while Spieth fell to a tie for ninth after a 1-under effort. Reed tried to change his scores, but the issue seemed to correct itself after Reed's teammates complained.

I mean, I have no idea, and honestly I don't really care what people say on Twitter, or if they are cheering for me or not cheering for me.

"You had to do it didn't you?" "It's surreal", Jeannette Reed told Alan Shipnuck from Golf.com.

Spieth put up the most unlikely fight and was on the verge of the greatest comeback in Masters history. He drained a sweeping 30-footer after reaching the green in two. He had to settle for a 64. They say the Masters starts on the back nine on Sunday but McIlroy was so flat that this one was all over by then.

Trump May Not Meet With North Korean Leader Until June
In the past, North Korea pledged to freeze its nuclear program in exchange for food aid and easing economic sanctions. He said the two sides will discuss the denuclearization of North Korea and expressed hope for an improvement in ties.

Hadwin finished the four-round event at one-under par, tied with fellow golfers Branden Grace, Si Woo Kim and Bernd Wiesberger. Neither one of them came close.

Five years removed from his last PGA Tour win and 10 years since his last major championship win, Woods has stirred the golf industry with his return to competition, contending at tournaments and showing glimpses of his once dominant form.

So what did I take out of the week?

Reed is old-school among his generation, with a brash attitude and a willingness to speak his mind.

AUGUSTA, Georgia-It wasn't the collapse from seven years earlier, far from it. He transferred to Augusta State and led the outmanned Jaguars to a pair of NCAA titles.

But the field, and the tournament, lived up to billing. They weren't at his wedding in 2012, a relationship Reed chooses not to discuss.

Nike is "doing a new thing where all the players stay in the same kind of storyline", Reed said last week. "I just didn't quite have it". While co-host Mike Greenberg has been upfront about calling Masters Sunday his favorite day in sports, Beadle asked why networks keep shoving Woods down viewer's throats when he's not in contention. Still, it was nice to be at Augusta and to do something other than eat, as Woods said.

Finally, after the way Spieth made his run from nine shots down at the start of the day, and after Fowler made a birdie on the 72nd hole to make Patrick Reed make a par on the same hole, it came down to Reed above the hole with a downhill putt that must have looked to him as if it might roll all the way to Atlanta if he hit it even slightly too hard.

Spain's Jon Rahm is also at 10 under, joining Spieth just one shot behind Rory McIlroy and four in back of leader Patrick Reed.

McIlroy shot 2 over and finished six shots back.
