By mid to late afternoon, temps run into the low to mid 40s, so what snow we see, starts to melt quickly. Its still trending as a rain changing to snow event where accumulations are very possible. It's coming down heavy at times, then weakens.

In the listed areas, meteorologists said heavy snow, possibly five to seven inches, was expected with the majority of the snow falling between 12 a.m. and sunrise on Monday. Ludington, Big Rapids, Clare, Gladwin, Standish and Tawas City are in the three to six inch snow forecast area. A mix of sleet and freezing rain in the metropolitan area was expected to turn into snow over the evening as temperatures drop from the upper 30s to a low of about 29.

A separate storm will spread snow across the northern Plains and upper Midwest Monday and Tuesday.

Rain and sleet would make driving to work Monday morning slushy.

"Plan on hard travel conditions, including during the evening commute", the Weather Service said in its updated winter weather advisory. Most communities north of I 90 will be near the 6-inch mark with some isolated spots over.
