Anthony Joshua says it was an "honour" to share the ring with New Zealand heavyweight Joseph Parker but his promoter Eddie Hearn has ruled out a rematch following the Brit's victory in Cardiff. Two judges awarded him the fight 118-110, the other scoring it 119-109, all in Joshua's favor.

Joshua's IBF and WBA world titles will be on the line, as will Parker's WBO belt, in the first heavyweight unification bout held on British soil.

"We didn't quite do enough today to win the fight".

Joshua said he did not condone comments Wilder is now under investigation by the WBC for after he stated he wants "a body" on his fight record.

"My strategy was to stick behind the jab, that's one of the most important weapons", Joshua said in the ring afterwards. Every time he came forward I would just ram that jab in his face. I know what it takes to be a champion.

Despite taking out all three scorecards by a comfortable margin, England's Joshua faced one of the toughest tests of his career so far, taken through all 12 rounds for the first time in his 21 professional bouts.

An even a bigger test lies ahead of him against Wilder. The huge world title unification fight is to be aired on Showtime in the U.S., with the boxers ranked first and third in the heavyweight division coming to blows at Wales' Principality Stadium on March 31. Only one title - the WBC - is now not in his possession.

The 28-year-old dropped two names before the night was done: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, and Tyson Fury, the man who held all of Joshua's titles in 2015.

But it might not happen until next year.

The fallout from Anthony Joshua's clash-of-the-champions meeting with Joseph Parker is looking to be bigger than the fight itself as people wait and see where Joshua goes from here.

Joshua, after the fight, told Sky Sports "IBO, WBO, WBA, IBF. I tried to speak to him when he came down the back and he had no idea or understanding of the question I asked him".

RANGERS legend Paul Gascoigne congratulated Anthony Joshua on unifying the heavyweight division. "To each their own", Joshua said in his post-fight conference.

The traditional staredown passed without drama, the pair shaking hands (prompted by Joshua), and Parker saying "all the best" to his opponent at the end of a short conversation.

Barry would have liked Parker to throw more combinations in an effort to take Joshua out of his comfort zone.

Excluding rounds 5, 7 and 9, Parker struggled to connect punches. Joshua nearly had Parker rocking with a combination in the eighth round and landed a right uppercut on the inside early in the ninth round.

Joshua's knees buckled from a counter right hook late in the 11th, after hurting Parker.
