Jurgen Klopp has revealed he received a message from Ilkay Gundogan after Liverpool were paired with Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final draw on Friday.

Despite losing 5-0 in the hands of Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on matchweek four, Liverpool remain the only team to have beaten City in the Premier League this season after they won 4-3 in the reverse fixture at Anfield in January. It will now kick off at 13.30 to accommodate the Wednesday and Tuesday dates for the Champions League tie, while City's derby with United stays on Saturday, kicking off at 18.30.

"It's cool. For sure, the first one will be a really exciting game to watch".

The Brazilian says City will have to take that as a fair warning when the sides face off in European competition in April, "Everybody knows this will be a tough game and we will have to prepare very well for this game".

The Liverpool manager added: "So a really intense game and you give us the worst moment for a game against Everton, which we can not say to our supporters: 'I know it is Everton but we play on Tuesday again'. In between, Everton. Right!"

City pose a similar threat to that which Liverpool pose.

'When you think about the draw, if it is the team around the corner you can go by bus, you don't want it, ' said Klopp. We all know about that. Yes it was a close game here and stuff like that.

Writing on his column for the Daily Mail, Redknapp claimed: "This is the draw neither team wanted, while City may be slight favourites, I can see Liverpool going through". But are we their nightmare?
