Winn-Dixie's fortunes have been chipped away by the entry of Amazon into the grocery business and the online retailer's purchase of Whole Foods Market. Bloomberg first reported last month that Bi-Lo could close up to 200 stores in coming weeks as its parent company prepared to file for bankruptcy.

According to the company, the restructuring will decrease overall debt levels by over $500 million and maintain its strong liquidity position under the new post-emergence Revolving Credit Facility.

In total, the whole process is expected to take place within the next 90 days.

Staff at each store closing will inform pharmacy customers where their accounts will be transferred to.
