Amazon is expanding Whole Foods delivery service to Atlanta and San Francisco

Amazon said on Tuesday it's expanding its free two-hour delivery service from its Whole Foods stores through Prime Now to Atlanta and San Francisco.

Amazon has wasted little time in putting its recent Whole Foods acquisition to use.

The service first rolled out last month in Whole Foods' hometown of Austin, Texas, as well as in Cincinnati, Dallas and Virginia Beach, Va., with plans for ongoing expansion across the United States throughout the year.

The service is newly available to residents in Atlanta and many of its surrounding neighborhoods, and in San Francisco and nearby communities including Berkeley, Oakland, and part of Silicon Valley.

Orders that total at least $35 can be delivered within two hours for free through Amazon's Prime Now service, or within one hour for an extra $7.99 fee. Customers in supported areas can order produce, dairy, meat, seafood, bakery items, flowers and even more through Prime Now. Prime members can enter their ZIP code to find out if they live in an area where two-hour Whole Foods delivery is available.

Amazon is expanding its grocery delivery service from Whole Foods Market to two additional cities: Atlanta and San Francisco. They can place their orders through the separate Prime Now website or through the Prime Now app. Amazon and Whole Foods didn't immediately respond to requests for comment. Shortly after buying Whole Foods, Amazon slashed prices at all of its locations in an attempt to boost foot traffic and put more pressure on competitors.
