Veteran actress Shammi passes away at the age of 89

Veteran Bollywood actress Shammi, known for her appearance in Bollywood as well as TV industry, passed away at the age of 89 on March 6, 2018. The show also starred seasoned actors like Jatin Kanakia, Vivek Vaswani, Smita Jaykar, Dilip Joshi and Anju Mahendroo. The films like Hum hum Sath hai, Gopi Kishan, Hum, Coolie Number 1 other movies.

Having started in films accidentally when a family friend asked Nargis to go meet actor-producer Sheikh Mukhtar, who was looking for a second-lead in a film opposite Begum Para, Shammi was given her name thanks to the "another" Nargis already in the business. She was the most fun person on set.

Shammi was last seen in the Farah Khan film Shirin Farhad ki Toh Nikal Padi, in which she played the character of a Parsi woman. In her last moments, she was surrounded by her son Iqbal Rizvi and close friends including veteran actress Asha Parekh, Farida Jalal and Anju Mahendru.
