The dress was actually designed by no other than legendary Filipino designer Pitoy Moreno (their last names are just a coincidence!) back when Rita was in Manila filming a movie called Cry of Bataan.

In a report by People, Rita said during the red carpet: "This is the gown I wore in 1962 when I won my Oscar".

In fact, Moreno was so caught off guard that she did NOT have a speech planned, and she was responsible for one of the shortest acceptance speeches in Oscars history, clocking in at around 15 seconds. "I just love - it was an wonderful night", Rita, 86, shared of her look while on the red carpet.

Rewearing a dress you've already worn to an awards show would usually be seen as a big "no-no". The one shore wore in the '60s had straps, however, so she updated it with some minor alterations. Actress Rita Moreno walked the Oscars red carpet Sunday in the same black and gold gown she wore to the Oscars in 1962, when she won the statue for best actress in a supporting role for "West Side Story".
