According to Kuo, the iPhone maker wants the headphones to offer high-quality sound and be "convenient" like AirPods as well. The prices are expected to be higher than the Airpods. "Kuo states that the new headphones will feature an "all-new" design" but doesn't share any specifics.

When Apple introduced AirPods past year, it became a butt of jokes. It's possible that Apple's own branded headphones could co-exist with Beats, but this rumored move could also be signalling the beginning of the end for Beats. He's now the media's darling for insider analyst news on Apple, but as TMO's Bryan Chaffin routinely points out on Apple Context Machine, his accuracy is pretty spotty. The components for the new AirPods, however, will be supplied from Unitech, Compeq, TXC, and HLJ, said Kuo.

The 'Matrix phone' is back: Nokia 8110 retro reboot coming in May
The device runs on Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and is said to receive Face Unlock feature via OTA update in Q2 2018. The colours are most visible on the back panel, but can also be seen creeping around the edge from the front a little.

However, the expected design language of the device is not yet known. For this year, Kuo expects AirPods shipments at 24 to 26 million units. The site said the new AirPods could launch this year. Considering how the latest Apple Watch already has W2, it seems logical that the second generation Airpods will have that as well. What's more interesting, the third-party apps will be able to function across iPhones, iPads and Mac computers - a feature that will involve both iOS and macOS 10.14. Admittedly, tapping the Airpods twice to activate the personal assistant doesn't sound like too much work, but they still decided to make it even easier. The users will now be able to activate the little helper simply by saying the phrase "Hey Siri". Though the device won't be capable enough to survive under water, they would at least not get damaged if it starts raining or gets splashed, according to Bloomberg. Also, its ease of use and relatively affordable pricing is a major reason for its success. An uptick in demand can be credited to the new iPhone owners, who migrated towards more wireless earbuds.
