He also called St. Louis Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner a "reckless liberal prosecutor".

The Missouri GOP's criticism of the indictment stands in stark contrast to the dozens of GOP lawmakers now calling for Greitens to resign. Spokeswoman Susan Ryan said Gardner is relying on facts and will not be playing "political games".

Seen as a rising star in the Republican Party, Greitens recently has been on defense. He had confronted her about the affair in 2015.

The indictment — handed down by a grand jury and stemming from an investigation launched by Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner — alleges that Greitens took a compromising photo of a woman without her consent and transmitted the image to a computer.

However, as of now, the governor says he has no intention of handing over his resignation.

Greitens, 43, was taken into custody after his court hearing for taking a photo of a person who was nude, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Online court documents indicate that Greitens was arrested by St. Louis police and released on his own recognizance. The alleged events occurred before he was governor. And earlier this week, while debating a bill that would outlaw "revenge porn", Republicans overwhelming supported amending the bill to make it a felony to threaten someone with releasing a sexually explicit photo. "We've been tracking the rain and flooding throughout the week and we are in close coordination with the Governor, state and local agencies and response partners to ensure we are prepared to respond to this flooding". Jamilah Nasheed of St. Louis said.

The process to impeach Greitens could now be moving forward as soon as Monday, as a vote could be held in the Missouri House to decide whether or not an investigation into the charges is necessary.

Albert S. Watkins and the law firm of Kodner Watkins, LC represent the former husband of the woman with whom Governor Greitens has admitted having an affair.

The statute of limitations for invasion of privacy in Missouri is three years, which means it was due to expire in less than a month.
