Enterprise Rent-A-Car to end discounts for NRA members

Additional NRA breakups may be in the offing.

Companies like Hertz don't have that much power, of course, and this week's measures are aimed only at the NRA, which, with its increasingly unhinged platform, is doing much to isolate itself from the mainstream.

Chubb Limited, a giant in the personal accident and life insurance game has for a long-time offered the NRA Carry Guard plan, which provides insurance coverage to NRA members caught up in shooting self-defense lawsuits. It was responding to a tweet saying "Please END your relationship with the @NRA".

-Symantec. The cybersecurity company's LifeLock identity theft protection service for businesses and its Norton anti-virus software had both offered discounts to NRA members.

The exodus of corporate names, ranging from a major insurer to vehicle rental brands and a household moving company, occurred after the NRA launched a counter-offensive against a student-led campaign for tighter United States gun ownership laws.

Another car-rental company, Hertz, soon followed suit. Several auto rental firms and hotel chains have terminated discount programs with the group, including Hertz, Enterprise, National and Alamo vehicle rental firms, along with Best Western and Wyndham Hotels.

And the list went on.
