The monarch later presented London-born Quinn, known for his avante-gard prints and colorful headscarves, with the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design. She sat in the front row next to Vogue editor Anna Wintour. He founded his namesake brand just two years ago, following his graduation from Central Saint Martins' Fashion MA course.

The award itself was designed by Angela Kelly, inspired by the Queen Elizabeth rose, and has been hand-produced by Lucy Price at Bauhinia Studios in Birmingham's famous jewellery quarter.

The Queen appeared to be enjoying herself as she watched the show, also sitting next to British Fashion Council (BFC) chief, Caroline Rush. During the finale, Queen Elizabeth could even be seen pointing to a few looks, perhaps picking out some of her favorites.
