Pakistan cricketer-turned-politician Khan marries 3rd time

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has married spiritual guide Bushra Maneka, his party said on Sunday, thus ending weeks of speculation about the union.

The party of cricketer-turned politician issued pictures of Imran's nikah with Maneka on its official twitter account. Khan's close confidante Awn Chaudhry also wished the couple well.

Earlier, Reham Khan, ex-wife of Imran, had also claimed that Imran had remarried.

Khan's previous two marriages, particularly when he Wednesday his first wife, British socialite Jemima Khan, captivated global tabloids as well as local media in the deeply conservative Muslim nation of 208 million people. However, it wasn't a successful marriage as the bonding lasted or only 10 months.

Since January there have been several media reports that hinted Imran Khan's marriage but no confirmation came till yesterday.

According to the Press Trust of India none of Imran Khan's sisters were present during the marriage ceremony fanning rumours that Imran had not taken them into confidence about his third marriage.

Fawas Chaudhry tweeted: "Marriage is the combination of two hearts and two souls, which join each other on this special day of your wedding".

Taking a jibe at the PTI leader, Talal said that while Nawaz Sharif was destined to become prime minister for fourth time, Imran's fate was to get married for the third time.

Khan has been divorced twice, having been married to socialite Jemima Goldsmith and journalist Reham Khan.

Shireen Mazari tweeted: "Congratulations to IK on his Nikah with Bushra today".

The party released pictures of a smiling Khan, showing him sitting with his new wife.

PML-N leader and Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique congratulated Imran on his marriage and extended his good wishes to the PTI chairman for his marital life. The marriage took place at Maneka's brother place in Lahore, Pakistan.
