MAURICIO POCHETTINO fears for the safety of his Tottenham stars after claiming the pitch at Rochdale's Spotland stadium is unfit to host their FA Cup tie.

Pochettino said the pitch was not "in a condition to play football," and that he would speak to Spurs chairman Daniel Levy on Thursday to discuss the situation ahead of the game at Spotland on February 18.

"In that condition, I think it doesn't help football". I'm exhausted of explaining, but football is about 24-25 players, it is about quality of effort, and we are going to rotate because we trust in all the players.

"It's a big risk to play on a pitch like that - especially if the pictures I have seen give an accurate impression of the state of it".

"I think he is going to find it easy to recover his real level, or improve because he is more mature and you learn in a tough moment a lot".

"I think today is the FA Cup".

Mauricio Pochettino has claimed Wembley finally feels like home for Tottenham ahead of Saturday's north London derby against Arsenal. But not because we are Tottenham. No, I think Rochdale can not play football there too. It is a massive risk for their players too.

Extra covers and expertise from independent grass experts will be on hand to get the ground in the best possible condition.

Wembley has not always been a happy hunting ground for Tottenham.

"It was a good start in the first 25 minutes, but the manner of the goal, the way it went in, it took it out of the boys and deflated them", he said.

Keith Hill's men beat Championship Millwall at home on Tuesday to land a shot at Spurs after their pitch passed a 9am inspection by match ref Tim Robinson.

On Wednesday night, the former Juventus man had the chance to add to his tally when he came up against League Two opposition Newport County, however, he missed a number of golden opportunities, much to the Spurs faithful's frustration.

Pochettino has spoken highly of the quality in his first-team squad, but the Argentine has suggested that Perez has also played a leading role behind the scenes.
