A Louisiana teacher who spoke out about a superintendent's pay raise during a Vermillion Parish school board meeting on Monday was escorted out and handcuffed by a marshal, according to KATC.

Deyshia Hargrave, a middle school teacher in the Vermilion Parish school system, was videotaped being escorted out of a room and then wrestled into handcuffs by a city marshal on January 8.

She also posed several questions, and was warned to restrict her statements to comments only - even though the board was answering her questions, KATV reported. After being called on a second time, when Hargrave tried, once again, to ask a question, she was told to leave.

When she voluntarily left the room, the officer jumped into action in the hallway, forcing Hargrave to the ground and handcuffing her.

When the officer told her to "stop resisting", she responded: "I am not, you just pushed me to the floor.I am way smaller than you". "We work very hard with very little to maintain the salaries that we have". She was later released on bond. According to news site Education Week, "a survey of more than 1,800 public and private school teachers conducted in the 2015-16 school year" showed that the average American educator had to spend $600 of their own money in order to provide adequate school supplies for their students.

CNN's Jake Tapper cuts off 'obsequious' White House 'factotum' in contentious interview
Bannon's role had been "greatly exaggerated", even as the CNN host Jake Tapper ticked off a long list of policies he said Mr. Trump laid out the administration's 2018 legislative agenda while flanked by top-ranking House and Senate Republicans.

Hargrave was questioning why the superintendent would get a raise while teachers haven't seen a bump in pay in years, according to the news station. Shortly after, Hargrave was removed from the building in handcuffs.

"What happened here tonight - the way that females are treated in Vermilion Parish - I have never seen a man removed from this room", she said as people in attendance called the incident "terrible".

KATC, of Lafayette, had a crew at the meeting and was videotaping it, along with another person who shot video, The Times-Picayune reported. The school district and other authorities have not commented about her arrest since Monday night.

The 74 was unable to reach the marshal's office or the school district Tuesday morning.
