According to the reports, Capers was let go after a season-ending 35-11 loss at Detroit on Sunday.

The Packers also fired inside linebackers coach Scott McCurley and defensive line coach Mike Trgovac, according to ESPN. In each of his first two years as the defensive coordinator, the Packers finished in the top five in total defense. But it's been downhill over the past several seasons with Green Bay's defense ranking in the bottom half of the National Football League in three of the past five years.

In 2015, the Packers ranked sixth against the pass, seventh in opposing quarterback rating, ninth in interceptions and tied for 12th in points allowed, but they significantly slipped in the last two years despite several high draft picks being used on defensive players.

Capers' defense hasn't finished in the top 10 since the Super Bowl season. Sanders was sacked after the 2008 season.

The 67-year-old Capers said last month that he planned to coach "as long as I enjoy it".

He's now let go three defensive coaches as of Monday.
